Lauren and I have found that we can do so much more as a team than as solo photographers such as continually being able to cover multiple aspects of the wedding simultaneously, making the "formal" photos go much more efficiently, Lauren creatively capturing quirky and fun in-between images while I'm working with the groups, assisting the bride, groom, and wedding party with various pre-wedding details if needed, and much more.
Robert Kaussner: Robert Kaussner and Lauren Youngs are among the most sought after wedding photojournalists in the Northeastern U.S. Robert's work has won him several top awards at regional and national photographic competitions to include "The American Scene" National Photographic Competition, "The State of the Art" Annual Juried Photographic Competition, and many others. His unique style and passion for capturing the moment beautifully, creatively, and naturally has given him the opportunity to photograph hundreds of society weddings and other significant events from New York to Santa Fe. Robert's subjects all look extremely comfortable, are usually having lots of fun, and yet look very glamorous, which results directly from his calm, fun, creative, and friendly personality which will relax even the most nervous subject in front of his camera. In most cases, Robert's clients aren't even aware that they are being photographed due to his particularly unobtrusive style of photojournalism.
Brides, grooms, children, parents, and other clients find it very easy to trust and have fun with him, since being at ease with people has always come naturally for him (most likely due to the wonderful personality and life-long influence of his father, Roland, a highly accomplished, admired, and respected Juilliard-trained, classical pianist and piano instructor who is still at it at age 85!).
Robert has been deeply involved in the practice of professional photography for more than twenty-five years, and began his formal training in at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he was influenced by the likes of Arnold Neumann, Gregory Heisler, and many other masters of photography. After graduating from RIT, Robert spent ten years working for Eastman Kodak Company (five years working within Kodak Research labs on Ektachrome film product development, etc.) three years producing and presenting photography seminars in sixty cities per year worldwide, and two years as a Professional Photography Technical Sales Rep serving Eastern North and South Carolina).
After Kodak, Robert assisted three of the country's top photographers to include commercial photography great Dean Collins of San Diego, wedding photography giant David Ziser of Cincinnatti, and conceptual advertising and fine-art photography wizard Scott Morgan of Los Angeles (in Scott's Santa Fe Studio).
Robert currently resides in the country outside of Ithaca, NY, and has a studio in Ithaca where he frequently meets with clients.
